Troubleshooting

Is your mouse leaving the game window while StreamAlertsTV is active? Here's the fix

If you've recently noticed that your mouse is drifting to your second monitor while playing games with the StreamAlertsTV overlay enabled, you're not alone. A few users have reported this issue, and we've tracked down the likely cause.

The issue:

When using overlays like StreamAlertsTV, your mouse should stay locked to the game window, especially when you're playing in borderless or windowed fullscreen modes. But recently, some users found their mouse wandering to a second screen mid-game, making gameplay difficult or unplayable.

The cause:

In most cases, this is caused by Discord's Game Overlay being active. Discord recently pushed an update that seems to interfere with how multiple overlays behave when active at the same time. When both StreamAlertsTV and Discord's overlay are running, Discord may override the focus behavior, causing the mouse to leave the game window.

The fix:

Turn off Discord's game overlay. Here's how:

  • 1. Open Discord.
  • 2. Go to User Settings > Game Overlay.
  • 3. Toggle "Enable in-game overlay" off.
  • 4. Test the mouse behavior again.

If you're also using Steam's overlay, it may contribute to similar issues, especially when multiple overlays are active at once. We recommend turning off one overlay at a time to test compatibility.

We're also working on a notice within the app to warn users about this specific behavior.

Final notes:

This issue isn't caused directly by StreamAlertsTV but rather by the way overlays compete for priority. We're monitoring changes from Discord and other platforms to ensure continued compatibility.
